Parks are found in every state of Australia. They are great areas for maintaining our native heritage.
Australia has different parks depending on the controlling body that maintains
the parks. The types of parks you will find below are;
National Parks,
State Parks, Marine Parks,
Marine Sanctuaries, State Game Reserves
and Conservation Parks.
National Parks
Most National Parks contain an abundance of Wildlife and Flora. Click on the State of interest.
Victoria's National Parks
Victorias National Parks occupy 17% of Victoria covering 4,000,000 Hectares.
The Parks contain beautiful diverse scenery must be preserved for the sake
of our native wildlife, flora and our enviroment.
Please take care of Victoria's precious resource by taking your rubbish with you if bins are not provided and stay on designated walking tracks where possible. Do not remove native vegetation and try to leave minimal impact on the Park from your visit. Remember future generations are sure to want to experience the beauty of our National Parks.

Alpine National Park - Victoria
Alpine National Park is Victoria's largest Park covering central Gippsland
to the NSW border. There is superb scenery of mountain peaks, escarpments
and Alpine landscape.
Downhill and cross-country snow skiing is a big attraction in the winter months. Horseriding becomes more popular in warmer weather.
Many tourists make their way here in Autumn to enjoy spectacular colours across the hillsides. Mt Bogong and Mt Feathertop are Victoria's highest peaks.
Deer hunting is permitted in sections of the park.
The park covers 646,000 hectares and is situated 360 km from Melbourne.

Chiltern-Mount Pilot National Park - Victoria
This area is a significant aboriginal site. Enjoy the views from Woolshed
falls, the abundant animal and plant life throughout the park, take one of
the bush walks, or relax at a picnic site.
The park covers 21,500 hectares and is situated 30 km from Wangaratta and 270 km from Melbourne.

Cycling, fireplace/wood barbeque, information, picnic table, toilets, walking
track, self guided walking tracks.

French Island National Park - Victoria
Access to French island is via ferry from Stony Point. Travel on the island
is by foot, bike or guided tour as tourist vehicles are not permitted. The
main attraction is the native animal population. There is an abundant Koala
population and plenty of bird life.
The park covers 11,100 hectares and is situated 70 km from Melbourne.

Grampians National Park -Victoria
The Grampians National Park is magnificent display of rugged mountain ranges,
brilliant rock formations, incredible lookouts, cascading waterfalls, wildflowers
and abundant wildlife.
The Grampians is one of Victoria's most popular tourist destinations, attracting visitors worldwide to view the splendor of this amazing area. There is sure to be something to please everyone. Scenic drives, climbing, walking tracks and nature study are just a few ideas. See Kangaroos and Koalas up close in their natural enviroment.
Halls Gap is situated in the heart of the Grampians and has stunning views. Here you will find a caravan parks and camping ground, craft shops, service station, restaurants, supermarket, Brambuk Cultural Centre
Areas of particular interest include The Balconies, lake Bellfield, McKenzies Falls, Mt William, Wonderland Range and the Zumstein picnic ground.
Aboriginals lived in the Grampians for thousands of years and there are significant rock art sites to be seen.
This area needs several days to view what the Grampians has to offer.
The park covers 167,200 hectares and is 260 km from Melbourne, 450 km from Adelaide.

Lake Eildon National Park - Victoria
Lake Eildon is a popular boating, fishing and water skiing area. The
Park surrounds the Lake with bush and forest areas.
The park covers 24,000 hectares and is situated 18 km from Alexandra and 150 km from Melbourne.

Mount Eccles National Park - Victoria
Mount Eccles was created by a volcano 20,000 years ago. Lake Surprise formed
in the crater, and as the name suggests, is a surprising sight when first
seen looking down the bush covered crater edges. The volcanic cave is a lovely
cool place to rest after walking on a hot summer's day. Nature trails meander
around the crater.

Otway National Park - Victoria
There is some spectacular scenery in the Otway National Park. The Park follows
the coastline from Apollo Bay to Princetown. The Otway covers some of the
most inaccessable and rugged coastline in Victoria. Magnificent rainforest
and fern gullies make this park a tourist delight. The park covers 12,750
hectares and is situated 7 km from Apollo Bay.
